When it comes to getting a compact and affordable camcorder for you or as a gift for your family or friends, nothing beats getting the Panasonic HDC-SD60K. Panasonic has come a long way in 2010 when the company released 5 camcorder models to suit every customer’s budget needs. The HDC-SD60K camcorder is said to be one of the best and easy to use camcorders in its compact class with a great zoom range and updated internal specs for the camcorder of its class. It also comes in rugged black and stylish silver colors.

For those who want to buy a camcorder that is worth the money you pay and do not want to experience any fuss when handling the gadget, you may want to get the feel to really fall in love with the Panasonic HDC-SD60K camcorder. It has a cool auto focus feature that is above average, manual shutter speed and iris control, and an impressive battery life that will last beyond your expectations.

The amazing features that can make the users gaping at awe is the 25x optical zoom added with an Intelligent Zoom function that can get up to 35x more zoom. The upgrade is not only limited to the zoom function but Panasonic has done the compact HDC-SD60K camcorder justice by integrating it with a face recognition in the Intelligent Auto function. And by adding the Power Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) in the camcorder ranks, users will be able to have more stabilized images even when holding the camcorder with a shaky hand by suppressing the minor movements during the recording process.

With the Panasonic HDC-SD60K camcorder, enthusiasts will also get an impressive video picture quality even in various video modes such as low light, snow, beach, scenery, fireworks, and night scene as well as in sports mode. Although the automatic white balance is a bit of a disappointment, but the Presets and Custom are there to cover the minor flaw. Users can just adjust the manual exposure modes and the white balance will tip to normal in a jiffy.

The Panasonic HDC-SD60K camcorder has a sensor resolution of 3.32 megapixels, effective video resolution of 2.11 megapixels, interpolated still resolution of 5 megapixels and an effective still resolution at 2.32 megapixels making the compact camcorder one of the best camcorders in the market resolution wise. The camcorder is also equipped with a zoom lens of 3.02mm – 75.5mm and F/1.8-3.3 aperture.

It also records JPEG image format and supports SD memory card but users may be disappointed when they found that the Panasonic HDC-SD60K do not come with internal memory space to back your recording when memory card is full. The plus point is the camcorder provides plenty of connections and port points, from USB to SDX card slots as well as the Mini-HDMI out. The buttons to operate the HDC-SD60K are inside the 2.7 inch, 230,400-dot LCD screen, but the button to switch the manual and intelligent mode is on the top of the camcorder for quick mode interchange to prevent less hand-shake video capture.

  1. Pros: I’ve had this product for about 3 months. The video quality is very solid, the LED flash and light work very well, the audio is great. It is very lightweight, attractive, and has a good price tag.

Cons: Still pictures could be a little better. Although, it does nice macro shots.

Summary: If you aren’t looking to spend over $500, I would highly recommend this for amateurs or beginners.
