At this time of age, digital video recording can become a person’s hobby as more and more camcorders are created to enable smooth video recording. Now you don’t really need experts to help you capture the special moments in your life. The Canon XIVIA HF R10 camcorder is one of the many attempts by Canon to enable more and more people to purchase their own camcorders at affordable prices without slashing the functions and quality in these entry-level camcorders to the market.

Canon Vixia HF R10

The Canon XIVIA HF R10 has the look and feel of a more expensive digital camcorder and the compliment does not only stop there. The user interface feature of the entry-level XIVIA HF R10 is also better than the more expensive models that Canon has produced. Another great addition to this budget camcorder is the headphones and microphone jacks, features which are rarely included in camcorders of this class.

The camcorder is installed with a modest 8GB built in memory and an SD memory card slot to back consumer’s recording when the internal memory space is full when the camcorder is functioning on the “Relay Recording” setting. The 8GB memory will allow consumers to record approximately 5Mbps high definition videos for up to 3 hours with an LP setting. For a higher quality recording of approximately 17Mbps on FXP setting, the Canon XIVIA HF R10 will allow you to record videos only up to an hour.

The Canon XIVIA HF R10 is one of the lightest camcorders and it has a comfortable strap on the side of the device to make holding it a pleasure. And although the 2.7 inch 210,000-dot LCD screen does not have a touch-screen feature, the design looked simpler than the other camcorders of its class range. However, there are buttons on the side of the LCD that allows consumers to operate the XIVIA HF R10 camcorder during the recording process.

As lightweight as this camcorder may seem, Canon does have a knack to design their recording devices with a touch of uniqueness. Two ports are located at the back of the Canon XIVIA HF R10 camcorder, sandwiching the Record button in the middle. The camcorder could capture videos at 1,664 x 936 pixels but needed to be converted to 1,920 x 1080 pixels for better presentation on an LCD screen. However the recording will then need to be saved using the AVCHD coding.

The HD CMOS image sensors integrated in the Canon XIVIA HF R10 camcorder quality is a bit below average but with a 20x optical zoom in place, the fun camcorder is one to be used for beginners. Besides the image sensors, the camcorder is equipped with Genuine Canon Face Detection technology, face indexing and the advance video snapshot feature that could stitch undersized recordings to form continuous movie. Although there are many important or regular camcorders missing in the Canon XIVIA HF R10 camcorder, the quality and the value of the device will not be much of a deal for the first time users.
